This bookmark is made in Japan between 1890 - 1910. It is made of brass with a picture of a small bird on a branch of a tree in relief on the smaller blade and a bird in flight near a plant engraved on the longer blade. This one also has the original bead and tassel at the top. The dealer said she found this with a collection of Japanese page turners that she purchased. This looks like smaller versions of them.
